The highest standards of conduct are expected from SCA students. These standards apply to both “school” and “non-school” related social activities where unacceptable behavior might bring shame upon the name of Christ.
Prohibited Activities
On and Off Campus
Drinking alcoholic beverages
Using marijuana or illegal drugs,
Smoking
Profanity
Disrespect for authority or property
Improper sexual behavior
Non-compliance with the sexuality and gender identification statement
Abuse of others
In the area of relationships between our young men and women, SCA discourages dating and encourages parent guided and protected relationships. SCA prohibits all public displays of physical affection at “school” and at “school functions.”
SCA Conduct System
First Time Obedience
If a student is resistant in submission to the rules and guidelines of SCA, it is respectfully asked that the family not enroll the child. SCA’s goal is first time obedience. As an encouragement for the students to reach this standard, teachers may, at their discretion, use the following conduct system:
If a classroom rule is broken, the student is given a polite reminder.
If another incident occurs, the student is given a warning.
A conduct mark is given for a third offense.
Certain behavior will warrant an immediate conduct mark.
Conduct marks are also given if a student arrives to class late, does not bring the proper textbook(s), or does not wear the proper uniform.
Should a student receive more than five conduct marks in a grading period, the student’s parents will be contacted by phone or email and asked to help in correcting the misbehavior. A tutor might contact a parent sooner, if necessary.
Scripture Memorization
Four Year Rotation
SCA believes that the practice of memorizing extended passages of Scripture (rather than only isolated verses) empowers students to better understand the context for particular statements and allows them to trace the flow of thought that the Holy Spirit has communicated. Grades 1-12 memorize the following passages.
Sayers Classical Academy admits students of any race, color, sex, national, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally available to all students. SCA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, national, and ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship program, and athletic and other SCA-administered programs.
